JAKARTA, Indonesia, November 16, 2016 – Mobile network operator Telkomsel Indonesia, the largest mobile operator in South East Asia, has formally launched TCASH Tap across Indonesia.

TCASH Tap is powered by near-field communications (NFC) technology developed by Youtap, a global provider of contactless mobile payments and financial services software enabling mobile money and stored value wallet customers to ‘tap and pay’ at any point of sale with any mobile device.

The KFC/TCASH promotion launched with fanfare at KFC Kemang Nov. 11, 2016, and featured speeches by Telkomsel leaders, as well as appearances by local celebrities.

Speaking at the event, Telkomsel Director of Planning and Transformation Edward Ying said, “The cooperation with KFC will accelerate the adoption TCASH as a new payment method and strengthen the TCASH merchant network. This solution is leading digital lifestyle services for our customers, as well as supporting the national movement of non-cash launched by the government [of Indonesia].”

“Telkomsel is the mobile operator with the largest number of customers and the largest network in Indonesia,” said Justinus Dalimin Sudarsono, Director of PT Fast Food Indonesia Tbk and the owner of KFC outlets. “Collaborating with Telkomsel TCASH makes our customers more comfortable paying with making mobile money at 540 KFC outlets scattered throughout Indonesia.”

Telkomsel continues to develop electronic money services for the TCASH ecosystem and to promote a lifestyle of non-cash transactions, which are increasingly favoured and used by customers.

TCASH Tap offers a new experience that is easier to use. To use TCASH Tap, customers simply activate and place a TCASH NFC sticker on their phone. Then, they can ‘tap’ their mobile phone at the merchant terminal and enter a PIN to pay.

There are currently more than one million Telkomsel subscribers actively using TCASH Tap as a non-cash payment method.
