Singapore and Lusaka, Zambia – Youtap, a leading global financial services company, is pleased to announce the completion of the MTN Zambia and Barclays Bank Zambia integration. MTN Zambia Mobile Money has partnered with Barclays Bank to launch the new and innovative Payment Operator System aimed at increasing financial inclusion and providing a convenient way for customers to make payments for goods.

Youtap played a key part in the partnership through serving as a technological bridge between the two companies and their merchants, integrating their agency banking and payment system enabling the solution and providing both companies with a technology roadmap for future releases.

This landmark partnership is the first of it's kind in Zambia, will ensure that MTN Mobile Money customers are able to pay for their goods and services using their mobile phones on any Barclays Bank Zambia point of sale (POS) terminal. MTN Mobile Money customers will now be able to make secure purchases by using the phone number linked to their MTN Mobile Money wallet.

Launching in 2011 MTN Mobile Money Zambia has now grown to over 47,000 agents serving over 4.3 million mobile money accounts across the country. The launch of the new solution was officially celebrated in Lusaka with the Chief Executive of MTN Zambia, Phillip van Dalsen, and Barclays Bank Zambia Managing Director, Mizinga Melu in attendance.
